The second prompt in the 52 ancestors challenge is Favourite Photo.
I recently found this photo in a pile of old photos mum had. It is only the second photo I have seen of Wilhelmina Loudon, my great grandmother. Wilhelmena is the one that got me interestimg in researching my family history. I had actually thought there were no photos of her!
In the photo with her are four of her six cildren, Robert (known as Henry), Russell, Stella (on Wilhelmena's lap), and Esma. Absent is her husband, Robert Waddell Loudon. He was known as an itinerent preacher so may have been away at that time. As far as I am aware he didn't serve in WWI.
The back of the card shows it was a postcard and that the photo was taken at The Crown Studio in Sydney. I am only presuming that the date on the back is when it was taken. Allan was born in 1917, and Joan (my grandmother) in 1921.
Wilhelmina was admitted to Gladesville Mental Hospital at some stage after Joan was born and remained there until her death in 1951.
